General School Garden Info: We currently have a 10x10 "Edible Landscape" designed the summer of 2010. This garden includes lettuce, chard, peppers, tomatoes, squash, and eggplant through seed and plant donations from parents, teachers and the following businesses: Basics Cooperative, Angelic Organics Farm and Terra Yard Creations.
Curriculum
The woolly pockets will be an addition to each of our classroom gardens outside of each classroom exit.
We will be attaching the woolly pockets to metal stakes with zip-ties.
Half of our gardens face south, one south-east and one is north.
South-facing 6-8hours;
South-west 5 hours or more;
North-facing 5 hours or less
There is water source on the school building by each classroom garden.
Our kindergarten and elementary students and teachers along with parent volunteers help prepare, plant and maintain all of our gardens throughout the school year and summer school sessions.
Details
How we plan to fundraise for our garden: We will begin promotion and selling of the Mini Wally and Book the week of February 20 to our parent community and staff, as well as, make them available for purchase at our Annual Teach Peace Education Conference on March 3rd http://www.rockprairiemontessori.com/teach-peace-conference/.
